Balbooa Gallery 2.4.1. Accessibility in Focus

Balbooa Gallery 2.4.1. Accessibility in Focus

We’re continuing to update Balbooa Extensions to meet present accessibility standards. Starting June 28, 2025, the European Accessibility Act (EAA) officially takes effect, and we want your websites to be ready.

Our Gridbox and Balbooa Forms extensions already fully comply with accessibility requirements. And now it’s time to welcome Balbooa Joomla Gallery 2.4.1. With this update, your gallery becomes more friendly and accessible to all users. Especially if you already use the Balbooa ecosystem, now it is fully prepared for the next stage.

Balbooa Joomla Gallery 2.4.1. Accessibility in Focus

    Tested for Accessibility

The first thing we did was run Balbooa Joomla Gallery through the popular WAVE accessibility testing tool. It helps to identify errors that do not comply with accessibility requirements. And yes, it revealed a few things that needed changing, so we fixed them.

Why does it matter? Accessibility isn’t just a checkbox. It’s about care, comfort, and making sure that anyone can use your site. Thanks to these improvements, Balbooa Gallery is now much more compatible with assistive technologies. You may not notice these changes at first glance, but for many users, they make a world of difference.

      Keyboard Navigation

Now you can navigate the Joomla gallery completely with a keyboard. Use Tab and Enter to browse images, and click Escape to close the lightbox. This is essential for users who can’t use a mouse, and great for accessibility testers or anyone who prefers keyboard shortcuts.

You no longer need a mouse to interact with the Balbooa Joomla Gallery. We believe that a good user experience should work for everyone, no matter how they navigate.

          Joomla Accessibility Tool Support

Balbooa Joomla Gallery 2.4.1 includes a new Accessible Design option in Settings → General → Advanced. This feature automatically converts fixed pixel values into scalable rem units. This means that all gallery elements will scale according to the user’s font size or browser settings.

Thanks to this option, Balbooa Gallery is now fully compatible with the Joomla Accessibility Tool. Increasing font size or adjusting interface elements won’t break the layout or functionality. The gallery adapts gracefully.

In simple terms, if a visitor needs to see your site a certain way, Balbooa Joomla Gallery will adjust and will not lose usability.

              Right-Click Menu in Gallery

The right-click menu is a handy feature of all our extensions. To make the Balbooa products interface uniform and make your work easier, we’ve added the right-click menu to the Balbooa Joomla Gallery. Now with a simple right-click, you can: Duplicate, Export, Copy Settings, Paste Settings, and Trash. Everything is right there at your fingertips, no extra steps needed.

                Copy and Paste Gallery Settings

The primary reason we added the right-click menu to Balbooa Joomla Gallery is the ability to Copy and Paste Settings between galleries. This is a real lifesaver when you have multiple galleries on your site and want to refresh them with a unified design. A couple of clicks, and your galleries look stylish and modern, without the hassle of manually setting each one.

                  Moving Gallery Between Sites

All our extensions can import and export, but Balbooa Joomla Gallery did not have this functionality before. We’ve decided to change that! Why is it important? Imagine you’re moving a website to a different hosting or working on multiple projects. Sometimes, the migration process can be stressful and tricky. Digging into the database is risky, one wrong move can damage your site.

With the new Import/Export feature, everything is easier! To import or export your gallery, just click on More Actions and select the desired option. All titles, settings, and the gallery structure will be transferred automatically. The only thing you’ll need to move manually is the images. You can easily download them via the Media Manager or use FTP.

                    Thumbnails Border Radius

We’re updating the look of your galleries to match the latest web design trends. Have you noticed how many popular stock image websites use border radius for thumbnails? It gives the content an airy feel and modern look.

Now you have this option too! You’ll find it in the Gallery Settings on the Album and Thumbnails tabs. Border radius for thumbnails highlights your modern style and makes your gallery more attractive.

                      Lightbox Background Blur

We’re continuing to add style and aesthetic touches to Balbooa Joomla Gallery. Another fresh feature has arrived — Lightbox Background Blur. Now, when you open an image in the Lightbox, the background will automatically blur.

To draw focus to the main image and make viewing even more enjoyable, adjust this feature by going to Settings → Lightbox → Lightbox Br Blur.

                          Updated Default Styles

Balbooa Joomla Gallery already looked great, but it’s time for an upgrade. We decided to refresh the Gallery design! So, what’s new? We’ve updated the default styles so that when you install a new Balbooa Gallery, your gallery looks perfect right away. You get a modern design straight out of the box: minimalistic caption hover effects, image border radius, more breathing and space between images, and stylish tags. With Balbooa Gallery 2.4.1, you get an outstanding and beautiful Joomla gallery with zero setup required!

                            Building a Web for Everyone

Accessibility is not just about following rules. It’s about care, making sure no one feels left out. About giving everyone a smooth, barrier-free experience regardless of how they see, move, or interact.

With Balbooa Joomla Gallery 2.4.1, we’re taking another step in that direction. Alongside five fresh features that make your galleries more stylish, dynamic, and easy to manage, we’ve focused on accessibility, ensuring that your website works for everyone.

Update your Balbooa Joomla Gallery, test out the new features, and rest assured knowing your Joomla websites are now even more inclusive, beautiful, and ready for the future.

                              Changelog
