Gridbox 3. Locations, Currencies and Taxes
We are rebuilding the Joomla website builder Gridbox step by step, keeping familiar processes but making them more convenient, faster, and easier to use. This time, we reached the foundation of Gridbox eCommerce: Taxes, Locations, and Currencies. These sections may look unnoticeable, but they are the ones responsible for the stability of your online store and the confidence that everything is under control.
In Gridbox 3, these pages received a brand-new interface, more flexibility, and tools that turn routine into a clear, organized process.
Gridbox 2 and Transition to Version 3
You ask: When will Gridbox 3 be released? Our honest answer: When it’s ready. We know you are waiting for Gridbox 3. And believe us, we are too! But we don’t chase speed because for us, quality is more important.
Gridbox is an entire ecosystem that provides much more functionality than any other product on the market. So, rebuilding the core is a huge task that requires time, precision, and attention to detail.
If we rushed, the result would be chaos. We want the transition from Gridbox 2 to Gridbox 3 to be smooth, as if nothing had changed. Every feature, every detail requires time and accuracy. Rushing is unacceptable. It’s better to spend months developing the right solutions than to release a half-baked product.
Meanwhile, keep working with Gridbox 2, we provide up-to-date compatibility with Joomla and fix all known bugs. The transition to Gridbox 3 will be as smooth as possible. No revolution, only evolution. Everything you’ve built will remain and continue working.
Locations
Let's start by saying that Locations is a completely new page in Gridbox 3. In Gridbox 2, your ability to add multi-level nesting was limited. Now you get true freedom.
This page received a spacious Gridbox 3 style design, making it easy to add and manage locations. And the most exciting part is that you can now create an unlimited number of nested items. In Gridbox 3, you are no longer restricted by country or region.
Creating a Location
Everything follows a simple and clear pattern. To create a new location, click the red Add New Item button, enter the title, and select a Parent Item. You’re no longer tied to a specific country or region. You just create an item, then assign its parent. This way, you can create multi-level structures with any depth.
You can also optimize the process by importing locations. Just go to More Actions → Locations. Select the country you need, choose regions, or enable All, and click the Import button. The selected country and regions will instantly appear in your list.
Managing Locations
As always, you can use the Search bar for quick access. You can also manage items in bulk from the top toolbar, publish, duplicate, or delete multiple locations at once.
The best part is hidden in the More Actions button. Here you’ll find the Move To option, which allows you to move selected items to another Parent Item.
The new Locations system is designed to make managing countries, regions, and cities more intuitive and efficient. Everything works seamlessly, giving you full control over your store’s geography, from creation to fine-tuning.
Taxes
Taxes are one of the most critical aspects of Gridbox Joomla eCommerce that require responsibility and attention. That’s why we decided to make managing taxes in Gridbox 3 even simpler and more logical.
We moved Taxes into a separate menu. You no longer need to search through all the other settings.
Besides relocation, we changed the way taxes are managed. We abandoned the twin-table approach, and now Taxes are designed in the unified Gridbox 3 style, with more space, more order, and ease of management.
Taxes Settings
Now, to set the Tax Mode, you just go to Settings and choose Tax Exclusive or Tax Inclusive.
Creating Taxes
Creating a new item follows the native Gridbox design. Everything is unified and simplified for better understanding. To create a new tax, simply click the familiar red Add New Item button. A standard modal window will open in Gridbox 3 style, where you can fill in all the required data. It’s easier and more intuitive than ever.
Managing Taxes
Managing Taxes works like any other Gridbox 3 page. Here you’ll find drag and drop sorting, pagination, and quick search. A standard toolkit that makes routine tasks simple. Don’t forget about bulk management, publish or delete existing tax items instantly using the top toolbar.
Currencies
Working with currencies in Gridbox 3 has reached a new level. Currencies now have their own menu, making the whole process even more convenient and intuitive.
We abandoned the previous twin-table structure and redesigned the page as a classic list. This approach gives more space, simplifies perception, and helps you focus on data.
The design has been fully reworked in Gridbox native style — clean and lightweight. We've also added useful tools: column sorting, quick search, pagination, and drag and drop item sorting.
And of course, bulk management is available. Just a few clicks, and your list is changed exactly the way you need.
Creating a New Currency
To create a new currency, simply click the red Add New Item button and fill in the usual fields. Now everything is inside the Gridbox native modal, which makes the process straightforward and eliminates unnecessary scrolling.
Currencies Settings
Want automatic exchange rate conversions? Just enable Automatic Exchange Rate Conversions in the Currencies Settings. If the integration isn’t connected yet, click on the Manage Integrations icon and set it up in just a few steps.
Final Thoughts
Currencies received their own menu, a clean new design, and bulk management. Taxes are becoming structured and simple. Locations now allow you to manage countries and zones as easily as any other item in Gridbox.
Gridbox 3 is a step toward a system where even routine tasks become easy and fast. We keep improving the current Gridbox 2.x version, fixing bugs and ensuring Joomla compatibility, but our main focus is on the future.
