While developing Gridbox 3, we got so used to the new design that we stopped noticing just how good it is. It became something natural and familiar to us, like air. But today, we want to look at it with fresh eyes again: to highlight what the old approach lacked and why the new structure of the Joomla website builder Gridbox 3 became such an important step forward.

Discounts. Unified and Systematic Design

In Gridbox 3, we continue moving toward a unified, systematic interface. By abandoning the twin-table layout, we are shifting to a cleaner, more logical, and visually spacious design.



The interface now includes a new “Applies To” column that shows where each discount is used. Navigation and finding the right discount have become faster and easier.

Convenient Creation and Editing



Creating a discount is now as simple as adding any other item in Gridbox. Just click “Add New Item”, and a large modal that stretches to the full height of the screen will open. All parameters are visible at once, without unnecessary scrolling.



Options are grouped logically, and the visual structure is much clearer. Filling out the fields is now not only easier but also more pleasant.



Even required field notifications have changed. They are concise and non-intrusive, yet still noticeable enough not to be missed.

Flexibility and Control



After selecting the discount type, you enter the Discount Amount, depending on the chosen format (fixed amount or percentage).

The Restrictions and Date Limitations sections received an updated design but retained their previous functionality.

Category Discounts



When choosing a category, you’ll see the native Gridbox 3 layout with search and filtering.

Product Discounts



When assigning a discount to a product, you will see the updated Product Picker — clean, structured, and very convenient. We’re truly proud of this work. The interface looks elegant, even with a large number of options and variations.



There is sorting by Apps and Search. You can now assign a discount even to specific product options/variations, for example, only to a particular size or color.

Cart Discounts



The principle of assigning a cart discount remains the same. You set the order amount at which it becomes active. The logic is simple, transparent, and already familiar.

Shipping Discounts



Now discounts can be applied not only to products, categories, or the cart, but also to shipping. In Gridbox 3, we went further and added an option that online stores have long been waiting for. You can now apply discounts to shipping and even make shipping free if the order exceeds a specified amount.

Shipping costs are one of the most common reasons users abandon their carts. And the ability to manage shipping discounts flexibly is not just a cosmetic improvement. It’s a real tool for increasing conversion rates.



With shipping discounts, you can now:


  • Reward large orders with free shipping
  • Create personalized offers for loyal customers
  • Launch themed campaigns, like “Free Shipping Friday”
  • Promote specific product categories by combining product and shipping discounts
  • Fine-tune the conditions so the discount works exactly as you need.

Promo Codes

Promo codes have also been updated and reimagined. We abandoned the twin-table layout and moved them into the new unified Gridbox 3 design, which is clean, structured, and visually clear.




New Interface and Easy Creation



Creating a promo code in Gridbox 3 begins with a large, spacious modal window. Each element is placed in a logical sequence, fields are grouped by meaning, and the modal opens to the full height of the screen so you can see all settings at once without scrolling.

The promo code creation process has become simpler, cleaner, and much more intuitive. Standardizing the interface is another step toward making Gridbox feel like a unified tool.




Promo Codes for Shipping



Like discounts, promo codes in Gridbox 3 now have an important new option: they can be applied to shipping.



This is a strategic tool that opens new sales and marketing scenarios. With a shipping promo code, the possibilities of Gridbox eCommerce expand. Encourage large orders with free shipping, reward returning customers, clear out stock in specific categories, and do it all with a new Shipping Promo Code option.

Disable for Renewal



A new option has appeared in the Restrictions section — Disable for Renewal. If a user renews a subscription through their profile, the promo code will not be applied.



Why is this necessary? It prevents accidental extra promo usage during renewals. With the new Disable for Renewal option, you gain more control over how discounts work.
