Improvements You Asked For

Have you ever felt like tiny details make or break your workflow? In web development, the smallest tweaks can lead to big results. That’s why we’ve paused our Mailer for Joomla email marketing and given your favorite extension Gridbox some love and attention. Today’s update isn’t just about fixing bugs — it’s about giving you the features you’ve been asking for.

Let’s dive into what’s new in Joomla website builder Gridbox and how it will boost your website-building experience!

Dashboard Navigation Improvements

Our Dashboard Navigation tool has been a hit since its release. We’re glad so many of you find it useful! After receiving your feedback, we’re adding new features to make this tool even better.

Logout Button

Have you ever activated the Hide Joomla Navigation option and then found that the Logout button disappeared too? It’s a frustration. But not anymore! Now, when Hide Joomla Navigation is enabled, the Logout button will automatically appear in the Gridbox Dashboard Navigation. No more hunting for the Logout button. With just one click, you’re out — no workarounds needed!

Target for Links

Previously, links in Dashboard Navigation always opened in the same window. This could be inconvenient, especially when switching between the admin panel and the frontend. Now, you can set a target for your new custom menu item. When creating custom menu items, you can choose whether the link opens in the current window or a new one. More flexibility, less hassle!

Pages Bulk Editing

Managing multiple pages often requires tools for bulk actions. Gridbox already offered basic mass editing features like deleting or duplicating pages. But what if you need to change categories or tags for multiple posts at once? No problem! Managing tags for dozens of posts just got easier. Imagine preparing a blog series — you can now tag them all in one step. Perfect, isn't it?

More Actions Button

Your requests inspired us to make bulk editing even more powerful. Meet the new More Actions button! Located in the top toolbar, this feature lets you manage multiple items at once, saving you time and effort on repetitive tasks.

New Actions

The dropdown menu More Actions now includes several new options, making content management more efficient. These options are designed to make content management smoother and faster, giving you more time to focus on creativity.

Categories

Update categories for multiple pages at once. Perfect for reorganizing your site structure.

Tags

Assign tags for multiple posts at once. This helps you quickly organize your content and improve search.

Theme

Apply themes to several pages in bulk. Now you can easily change the visual style for a group of posts at once.

Access

Set access levels for multiple items at the same time. This is especially useful for managing premium content.

Language

Quickly assign or change the language of multiple items. If you work with a multilingual site, this option will save you a lot of time.

Author

Reassign authors for several posts with just a few clicks. A great solution for teamwork when content needs to be passed to another editor.

Manage Item Publication

Previously, new blog posts were automatically assigned a Publish status, which could result in them being visible on the frontend for a few seconds before you switched them to Unpublished.

In this update, we have changed the Joomla approach. Now, when creating a new blog post, you can instantly set its status to Published or Unpublished with a toggle button. This change gives you full control from the beginning, ensuring your content is only visible when it’s ready.

Combine Multi-Page with One Page Menus

Even more freedom in creating a unique site structure. Menus matter, and now you have the power to mix and match! With our latest update, you can combine Multi-Page and One Page menus seamlessly. Whether it’s a complex site or a simple portfolio, your navigation just got smarter.

Now, when adding a new menu item, you can choose its type: Multi-Page or One Page. This feature allows you to flexibly combine different types of navigation on one site, which is ideal for complex sites with a diverse structure.

Font Smoothing

We’ve added a new Font Smoothing option to give you more control over your website typography.

What is Font Smoothing? It’s a feature that enhances the appearance of text on screens, making letters look smoother and more polished. Without it, text can appear jagged, especially on devices with lower screen resolutions.

When should you use Font Smoothing? This feature is ideal for design-focused sites where aesthetics are key. It improves readability and adds a touch of sophistication, particularly on high-resolution desktops.

How to enable Font Smoothing? You can activate Font Smoothing in the Theme Settings, giving your site a sleek and modern look.

Now it’s up to you — use it or not to give your website that extra polish!

Video Plugin

Videos on your site deserve to look their best. That’s why we’ve updated the Video plugin to support the original aspect ratio. This means no more stretched or distorted visuals! Videos will be displayed in original format exactly as intended, ensuring a professional and polished presentation.

Full-Width Buttons in All Plugins

A small change with a big impact. Buttons are crucial for user interaction. In Gridbox, they appear everywhere — from standalone Button plugin to buttons in Recent Posts,  Slideshow, etc. And now, with Gridbox 2.18.2, they’ve gotten a major usability boost — the Full Width option.

So, why does this matter? Especially for mobile design, this feature is a game-changer. Instead of fiddling with horizontal paddings for each device, you can simply set the button to full width on the tablet portrait view. This ensures it will look perfect on all smaller screens without extra adjustments.

It’s a simple improvement but one that saves time and makes designing for mobile devices smoother than ever. Now, creating clean, user-friendly layouts is easier, no matter the screen size.

Final Thoughts

This update is our way of saying, "We hear you!" We’re always looking for ways to make Gridbox better for you, and your feedback is our biggest inspiration.
